Ms. Tang from 株洲 (Zhuzhou, China) received a phone call from a person claiming to be a Douyin customer service representative. The caller informed her that she had opened a Douyin live stream and that her membership would be automatically charged every month if she did not cancel it. Ms. Tang followed the caller’s instructions and activated screen sharing, resulting in 800,000 yuan being transferred away.
