The doctor and his father suggested giving up treatment, but his mother, 邹红艳 (Zou Hongyan), insisted on keeping him and raising him with great care, relying solely on her own efforts to send her son to both 北京大学 (Peking University) and 哈佛大学 (Harvard University).
