In 北京 (Beijing, China), a driver hit a cyclist, an elderly man, and paid compensation to settle the matter. However, the next day, the driver discovered that the elderly man was still riding the same bicycle in the local area, and it was then that the driver realized he had been a victim of a “peng ci” scam. After investigation, it was found that the elderly man had committed this type of offense over 200 times and was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 30,000 yuan.
