Five years ago, a 2-year-old girl in Hangzhou, China fell to her death at the home of her nanny’s daughter. Recently, the nanny’s daughter sued the girl’s mother for releasing her personal information, which she claimed constituted an infringement of her reputation. The Qiantang District Court in Hangzhou, China ruled that the girl’s mother had indeed committed an act of infringement, but did not assume corresponding liability for damages, and rejected the nanny’s daughter’s claim for compensation. Both parties have since filed an appeal.
